Cheezy Sauce

This flavorful and savory sauce is delicious over potatoes, rice or pasta. It can also be used for nachos or in soups. Nutritional yeast gives it the cheesy flavor - yum!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 head cauliflower or use 1 lb. cauliflower rice steamed
  • 2 medium carrots, chopped steamed until soft
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup almond milk (plain) or other nut milk
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 1 tbsp miso* paste made from fermented soybeans
  • 1/2-3/4 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Steam the cauliflower and carrots until soft.

  2. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until really smooth. 

  3. ENJOY!

Recipe Notes

Store sauce in refrigerator and eat within a week.  Also freezes well.

*Miso is a traditional Japanese seasoning produced by fermenting soybeans with salt and koji and sometimes rice, barley, or other ingredients. Wikipedia
You can use Bragg liquid aminos or salt  in place of the miso for this recipe, if you prefer.
